“The Tree of Life” at Houston Friendship Dinner
Feb. 2026, The Friendship Dinner featured a presentation highlighting the growing international movement to study harmony as a practical and interdisciplinary field of knowledge. The work is led by International Peace Doctors, a Houston-based nonprofit research organization that examines harmony through multiple lenses, including cultural heritage, art, music, law, psychology, philosophy, quantum physics, peace studies, peace education, diplomacy, and global cooperation.
Central to this effort is the Harmony Peace Prize, an international art competition designed not only to recognize artistic excellence but also to contribute to ongoing research on coexistence and social balance. The prize invites artists worldwide to interpret the concept of harmony across cultures and disciplines, encouraging diverse expressions rather than a single definition. Through this approach, the initiative promotes an evolving global dialogue expressed through visual art.
One of the featured works presented at the dinner was The Tree of Life by UAE artist Abbas Saberi , a distinguished entry in the Harmony Peace Prize. The artwork draws on one of humanity’s most enduring symbols — the Tree of Life — which appears across civilizations, spiritual traditions, and philosophical systems.
Across cultures, the Tree of Life represents interconnectedness: between earth and sky, matter and spirit, and the individual and the collective. It is frequently associated with wisdom, renewal, and the continuity of life. In this context, the piece serves as a visual reflection on harmony as dynamic balance rather than uniformity. By emphasising connection across differences, the artwork reinforces the broader message of the initiative: that sustainable peace grows from relationships rooted in diversity, balance, and shared meaning.
